Southampton NHS CCG purchases translation services from Language Line, so that we may use these during an appointment with anyone who wishes to use a translator.
We realise that many patients prefer to bring a friend or family member and we are happy to use them instead, as long as their English is sufficiently good to allow a fluent conversation between the doctor and patient about their medical problem.
Naturally, a three-way conversation takes considerably longer that a normal consultation, so we ask you book a double appointment to discuss your medical problem.
Please advise us that you need an interpreter when booking your appointment. We will do our best to arrange one, although we can never guarantee their availability at the time of the appointment sadly.
