Please note: Since Government changes in April 2004, patients are no longer registered with a specific GP, but rather with a practice. However, many IT systems within the NHS have not been updated to take account of this and a named GP is still commonly used. If asked for "your GP" please simply quote the practice details.

Here at the University Health Service you are welcome to see any doctor or to see the doctor of your choice when they are next free. However, it is often helpful to try and see the same doctor about a problem you have previously consulted us for as this helps maintain the continuity of your care.
 


 

Dr. Sarah Armstrong
BMedSci BM BS (Hons) [Nottingham 1995] MRCP MRCGP DRCOG

Sarah Armstrong joined the practice in 2001. She was an undergraduate at Nottingham University Medical School, qualifying with Honours in 1995. She completed 3 years of postgraduate training in general medicine in Southampton, before changing to General Practice in 1999. She completed her GP training in the New Forest and Winchester.

Due to her training she has a keen interest in the whole spectrum of general medicine, particularly heart and respiratory disease as well as women's health.


 

Dr. Theresa Creagh
BM [Southampton 1991] MRCGP DRCOG Dip Family Planning

Theresa was an undergraduate at the University of Southampton Medical School. Before coming to university she worked in Sudan with Save the Children Fund running a feeding centre for refugees from the Ethiopian famine.

She completed her postgraduate training in Hampshire, but then spent over a year in New Zealand working in a Children's Hospital before starting with the practice in 1998. Her special interests are paediatrics and women's health.


 

Dr. Mark Edwards
BSc MSc BM [Southampton 1997] DRCOG DFFP MRCGP

Mark is also a former undergraduate of the University of Southampton Medical School and completed his general practice training in Romsey and the New Forest.

In addition to general practice he works at Southampton's substance misuse service dealing with addiction problems.

His particular interests are minor surgery, contraception, drug misuse and medical informatics. He joined the practice in 2003 and is now Executive Partner.


 

Dr. Chris James
MB ChB [Bristol 1985] MRCGP

Chris has been a partner here since 1991. He enjoys all aspects of general practice, but has particular interest in Sports Medicine . This expands to all aspects of musculoskeletal medicine, including problems associated with the performing arts.

Chris is the Company Doctor for the English National Ballet, who he has worked with since 1995. He has participated in a wide variety of sports himself, but has excelled in none! The practice has developed many services for their patients and Chris has been responsible for bringing these changes about.

His organisational efforts are now concentrated on working with all the local GPs and improve health care for all the population of Central Southampton.


 

Dr. Heather Wilson
MB BS [London 1979] FRCA MRCGP DRCOG

Prior to joining the partnership, Heather was an anaesthetist, and continued working as an anaesthetist at the hospital once a week until quite recently. Heather, therefore, has a valuable overview of the sharper end of medicine!

Her breadth of medical interest can be seen by her interest in psychosexual medicine, and she is currently attending a course to consolidate this.


 

Dr. Johanna Curtis
MB BS MRCP MRCGP

Johanna completed her medical training at The London Hospital in 1994 & went on to do a medical rotation in Norwich before training as a GP.

She has been working as a GP since 2001 when she returned from a year out competing in a round the world yacht race, and has been an assistant GP with us since 2004.
